Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne illness that occurs in tropical and subtropical areas of the world. It causes a high fever and flu-like symptoms and can be mild to very mild, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The 3 stages of dengue fever is febrile, critical, and convalescent. Dengue begins abruptly after a typical incubation period of 5–7 days . Symptoms of dengue typically last 2–7 days. Most people will recover after about a week. Dengue is a mosquito-borne disease that can cause fever, vomiting, rash, headache, eye pain, joint and muscle pain and even death. In severe cases, dengue can cause shock, internal bleeding, and even die, according to the World Health Organization. Dengue fever is a viral infection transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes.
