2.Boswellia

Hi , good day . Today the drug is Boswellia , let’s start our discussion .

Boswellia serrata is a plant that produces Indian frankincense. It is also known as Indian oli-banum, Salai guggul, and Sallaki in Sanskrit. The plant is native to much of India and the Punjab region that extends into Pakistan. Boswellia, also known as Indian frankincense, is an herbal extract taken from the Boswellia serrata tree. Resin made from boswellia extract has been used for centuries in Asian and African folk medicine.

Classification

kingdom - Plantae

order - Sapindales

Family - Burseraceae

Genus - Boswellia

Species - B. serrata

Boswellia serrata is most commonly used for medicine. Boswellia is taken by mouth for brain injury, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, joint pain, swelling of the fluid-filled pads in the joints (bursitis), and swelling of tendons (tendonitis).

Boswellia is a natural extract, but it can still have side effects. It may cause digestive side effects, such as nausea, acid reflux, and diarrhea. Some people may experience skin rashes when using boswellia, especially if they apply it directly to the skin.
If you have gastritis or gastroesophageal reflux disease , you may not be able to take boswellia. Two case reports describe dangerously elevated a test used to measure blood clotting ( INR ) in people who were taking warfarin , a type of drug often referred to as a "blood thinner".
Boswellia extract has not been convincingly linked to published instances of clinically apparent liver injury.
A recent study demonstrated that a combination of boswellia and curcumin lowered signs of inflammation in chronic kidney disease. This study is especially important since it was conducted in patients.
A clinical trial conducted by Raychaudhuri and co-workers in India has shown that the extract of the plant, Boswellia serrata, can reduce pain and considerably improve knee-joint functions, in some cases providing relief even within seven days.
The reason for this decrease might be that as Boswellia serrata is a rich source of guggalsterones, which helps in (gugglesterones) stimulating the thyroid, leading to metabolic up-regulation, an increase in thyroid efficieny, increased caloric burn, and therefore possible weight loss. Our study indicates that supplementation of Boswellia serrata in three 300 mg doses daily for 6 weeks, significantly improves HDL, LDL, and total cholesterol levels and serum SGPT, SGOT in type2 diabetic patients.

Common side effect .

  • Headache (oral use)
  • Numbness and tingling (oral use)
  • Shortness of breath (intravenous use)
  • Nausea and vomiting (intravenous use)
  • Kidney damage (intravenous use greater than 945 mg/m2)

" We found that incensole acetate, a Boswellia resin constituent, when tested in mice lowers anxiety and causes antidepressive - like behavior.
In summary, the combination of spirulina - curcumin - Boswellia is effective in reducing the size of benign thyroid nodules and can be safely administered in the doses used in the presented clinical study.

When taken by mouth -  Quercetin is possibly safe  for most people when taken short-term. Quercetin has been safely used in amounts up to 500 mg twice daily for 12 weeks. It is not known if long-term use or higher doses are safe . Improved blood vessel function: Studies suggest that curcumin supplements may promote the dilation of blood vessels , increasing blood flow and reducing blood pressure .  Reduced heart attack risk: They may also lower the risk of heart attacks, possibly through their anti-inflammatory effects Coffee could potentially benefit people with rheumatoid arthritis because of the anti-inflammatory properties of coffee. 5Reducing inflammation in the body could help reduce joint pain. Also, the stimulating effects of caffeine help to fight physical and mental fatigue that is common with rheumatoid arthritis.
Radioactive iodine.

Taken as a capsule or in liquid form, radioactive iodine is absorbed by your thyroid gland. This causes the nodules to shrink and signs and symptoms of hyperthyroidism to subside, usually within two to three months.

Finally ,

we will discuss about the benefits of this plant . This plant is an effective anti-inflammatory, it can be an effective painkiller and may prevent the loss of cartilage. Some studies have found that it may even be useful in treating certain cancers, such as leukemia and breast cancer. The side effect of this plant is that Boswellia usually doesn't cause important side effects. However, some people who took it reported stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, heartburn, itching, headache, swelling, and general weakness. When applied to the skin: Boswellia is
POSSIBLY SAFE when applied to the skin for up to five weeks. ENJOY referring the article add this knowledge to your life .
